"In our travels through Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the low countries, and Great Britain, we saw evidence of the far-reaching appeal of the Camino de Santiago. We started in Porto, Portugal, as Camino pilgrims going to Santiago, Spain. After reaching Santiago, our journey began to focus on St. Angela of Merici and Renaissance women's spirituality. The skills we learned as Camino pilgrims helped us as we sought locations familiar to Angela in Brescia and considered the many expressions of Renaissance spirituality still evident in art and churches throughout Europe and Great Britain. The more I compared different Catholic lay women's communities and the history of Ursuline congregations, the more I saw that current Ursuline Associates come very close to her original vision for a company of women dedicated to God. Our travel experiences taught us to trust the Holy Spirit to guide our sight-seeing, confirming the deep faith that Angela had in the Holy Spirit."
