Fall Prevention Day a Success at the Ursuline Center

Posted 9/29/2017

Appropriately planned, the Ursuline Center celebrated Fall Prevention Day on the first day of autumn, September 22.

The theme was basically safety inside and outside the home. The residents had a life size board game and each group started in a different "room" of the house. We had a porch area, kitchen, bathroom and living room drawn with chalk on areas of the sidewalk outside the Ursuline Center by some of the students at St. Ursula Academy. Another group of students assisted with the "walk" from room to room outside and two questions were asked in each room.

A couple questions asked were: "What can be removed from the floor of a living room that causes falls?"  "What are three examples of safety equipment that can be used in the bathroom to prevent falls?"

Everyone who participated had a good time, shared some laughter, and learned at the same time.  It was a beautiful day and being outside was an added PLUS.
